I wonder if this was done to appease the existing YouTube users that refused connect the account to a Google+ account with their real name.

Anybody who was already on Google+ didn't mind the real-name policy, but they certainly weren't going to tell millions of YouTube people "Sorry we don't have a place for you anymore."

I am still skeptical that many YouTube members will create Google+ profiles as a result of this.

Forcing me to use my real name on Youtube, will just prevent me from ever commenting on a video.

"Anybody who was already on Google+ didn't mind the real-name policy"

...because those that did didn't join up in the first place. Nymwars.

Both of those statements are untrue. The nymwars took place on Google Plus as much as they did anywhere else.

They finally forced my G+ identity to be primary on my YouTube account a few weeks ago, despite me trying for years for it not to happen.

You can undo that.

How?

That link says it will only work for accounts connected within the last fourteen days.

I find this whole thing really off putting.

First they force my youtube account over to Google+.

The a few months down the track say - 'whoops, sorry about that - but you cant have your old account back'

And why? Why should he (she?) undo something done by G+?
