Twitter by nature is very public messaging platform and therefore this data is less private.

I'd be curious how many DMs are sent compared to public tweets.

Plus anything on SMS can already be monitored easily in the clear at the telco level. Most of the "interesting" twitter users are probably using SMS.

Don't forget about IP addresses and all of the data about what websites you're viewing thanks to their widgets.
