C# is not that great either. It's the IDE and all the supporting libraries that make a difference. And in this lies the problem - what if these libraries change, what if the IDE goes away or it license changes. Chances are that in a few years your UI code won't even build with then-current version of the C# toolset. On the other hand, C-based UI that depends solely on <windows.h> will.
