And example of bloat from the memo:

Amazing that 10MB is tiny by today's standards and that was reached only through a memory leak!


History repeats itself. Note the agonizing over memory. They were targeting a 16 MB machine.

We have the same problem. Ever try running linux on a 4GB machine? It naturally desires 16 GB nowdays.


Linux is fine with lower ram. but it will obviously use more for caching.

and nobody truly bought sgi machines with 16mb ram. not even pizza boxes.
