Well, it's a good thing that the current Tile CEO is on HN to rebut the accusations hmm? Maybe he will "unleash millions of dollars worth of lawyers".

You really can't make this shit up, what an incredible pattern of behavior lol.

Can Apple even respond to LE requests?

Seems like a pretty solid reason to prefer AirTags over Tiles.

Yes. In fact, when you set up an AirTag, you get a giant warning that even says "Apple cooperates with law enforcement" reminding you that the tag is linked to your Apple ID.

> Apple cannot view the location of any AirTag or supported third-party products.

> With a serial number, Apple may be able to provide the paired account details in response to a subpoena or greater legal process. AirTag pairing history is available for a period up to 25 days.

So yes, Apple will assist LE requests, but they can only link a discovered airtag to an Apple ID, not location data as with Tile.

I mean it seems fairly self-evident to me the only reason to go with Tile instead of airtags is that apple refuses to support airtags on android.

I've got a Tile on my dog, because I'll be fucked to go buy a whole-ass new phone (of a brand I don't even like) just in case my dog runs off. Other than that airtags seem clearly superior along basically all metrics.
