I use cat a lot.
It allows me to remember less switches of other commands, and simplify syntax of complex commands (pipes chain)
I treat cat as a stream-fier: given a file it creates a stream on stdout

Is it true that the origin of cat name is that in slang to cat means to vomit ? (to vomit a file to stout) ?
This is what I always known, but recently I read that cat stand for conCAT
