I should add, though, that a moderation reply like "could you please stop" is referencing not just one comment but a pattern of comments by that account. That's an important distinction. If we look at the account's history and see a bad comment as a one-off case, we might let it go (unless it's egregious); but if we look at the history and see that the account has been doing it repeatedly, we're going to ask them to stop because these are the things that really damage HN.
