My name is Laralyn. My background is in information and knowledge management, but my methodology focuses on users. Understanding a user base (expectations, goals, behaviors) is key to delivering products that are useful, usable, and engaging. My approach is a blend of quantitative and qualitative user research, working inclusively with cross-functional stakeholders, and testing the assumptions that inform business strategy.
I have 10+ years of experience leveraging data to identify target audience trends and produce actionable insights (e.g. designing attitudinal surveys, analyzing behavioral data, or using analytics to test a design hypothesis). I also have 10+ years of experience balancing and validating data-based insights with qualitative user research (e.g. facilitating user interviews and focus groups, leading workshops to understand users' mental model, or generating usability feedback through wireframe or prototype testing).
My experience spans roles in research, design, facilitation, product development, knowledge management, and content strategy. I've worked with startups and Fortune 500 companies in a range of industries; worked on a team of one and teams distributed across time zones. What's important at this point in my career is working with a collaborative team that values curiosity, transparency, rigor, and empathy for the user.
