Also colour associations are cultural, not universal


As are left and right positions of a button.

Really, the only thing I can think of that clearly indicates the state of these buttons is the ⏽ vs ⭘ distinction because those glyphs have been made specifically for this purpose.


I know ⏽ means on, but if I see ⏽, does that mean it's currently on, or that it will be on if I move the toggle to the location of the ⏽?

Are they? Seems to me color associations are conventional, not cultural.
