I assume it's part of the 'make everything usable on a phone' thing, regardless of whether you are actually using a phone, so the thing that only contains a half screen of information is now spread over 4 screens.

But then you also have the designers that like to make things pretty, rather than give you any hint that some text is in fact clickable.
