Speed Queen washers are all tiny, though. Our current LG (a company I despise, but had the highest CR rating by far), is something like 5 cubic feet. The Speed Queens were all in the 3 cubic feet range. Depending on family size, amount of bedding, etc., something that small can be a real pain to deal with.
Not true on the usefulness. Family of 5 here with a SQ front loader. It does everything we need, including cloth diapers, and any time we have needed to repair it, parts have been readily available from multiple suppliers.
My experience has been that you can “load” the Queens a bit higher even if the space is a bit smaller. Then again I went with a top loaded to get the ability to soak without using the sink. Maybe someday I’ll go like a friend and have both front and top. :)
