Many companies, and certainly some people I know, are keeping busy and confuse "operationally busy" with "successful". Most people that are too busy stop thinking strategically, and instead restrict all their energy and attention to short-term firefighting.

Rapidly-changing diaries are problematic already at much lower levels than "business level 7"... they also interfere with your own ability to plan your day.
