EJS looks a lot like a framework to me. Just because it leverages vanilla JS doesn't make it a non-framework. Or does it?


No, EJS is a template library. While frontend frameworks(vue, svelte, react) have templates, their main focus is on syncing js with html.

So, not only EJS is strictly less useful than any FE framework, at 22kb (min) it is also heavier than some of the options
