From the title mentioning "rave-y 90s project" and Mortal Kombat, I had assumed this would be about the legendary Belgian New Beat group Lords of Acid... they were contracted to create the companion soundtrack for the video game [1], including the theme song which was featured in the film / film soundtrack [2]. This was all done using an alias/side-project The Immortals, likely due to their main output as Lords of Acid containing rather extreme content.
Sadly only a passing mention in this article, but I'm sure there's an interesting story somewhere as to how that came to be!
That's what I thought too, especially since the headline says "scored Mortal Kombat", in which they scored the music for the video game.
The three of them (Praga Khan, Jade 4U and Olivier Addams) had dozens of projects (or "bands"). Would love to see it all documented in a memoir or something. It's so interesting to me. The closest thing I can find is a lengthy interview segment with Jade 4U in a video called "What Happened to Jade 4U and CJ Bolland" which is great.
Psykosonik ended up being the biggest disappointment of the 1990's in hindsight. So glad they fell into obscurity after the Silicon Jesus and Welcome singles (and, I guess, some soundtrack entries that never hit my ears). Not sure how they made the cut at Wax Trax.
