I'm planning a series of posts that simulate different concurrent systems. The memory model stuff is pretty much in the bag, and I'm working on simulating SQL transactions at different isolation levels, replicating read/write skew etc. Network and disk access come after.
I have no idea if any of this will ever be useful, but it's fun.
