Sunset is a pretty standard term for end-of-life in computing[1] and elsewhere[2].

"Sunsetting" inspires the feeling of a new beginning, and positive sentiment than "deprecating". There's a lot of power to be had in being able to influence perceptions with using the right words.


Sunset is not a manned thing, gives me the impressing of God complex.

Besides, I don't think we need a positive feeling here, "deprecate" is perfectly fine, may be a quoted "sunset" is more appropriate here.


It's an established term. That's a fact. It's like calling all people a moron in America who use the term "truck" instead of "lorry".

You're free to insult the intelligence of everyone who doesn't share your extremist minority opinion, though.
