Hard drives are consumable devices. Dropbox sounds like a better deal considering you get redundancy, don’t need to replace drives when they fail, can recover deleted files for some amount of time (I think)..


This is much much less of a problem for consumer workloads. A pair of hard drives can last a household a decade of moderate use without needing replaced.


Sure in the best case. They could also fail 2 years in so you need redundancy to not lose data.
