Why should the focus of this case against Google all of a sudden be hijacked for this complete tangent? 10 states are listed as Plaintiffs and Texas is but one of them.

That's kinda like saying the other Texas lawsuit to throw out the election results had merit because 17 other states filed a brief supporting it. And wouldn't you know it... nearly all the states named on this suit supported that one too. Who would've guessed?

It's not like saying that at all. It's distracting from the main thread to go on an ad hominem. If you are trying to discredit the people and representatives of 10 or 17 states, then you've got a problem. They have a right to sue and to have their case be heard like any one else. In the meantime, let's talk about the case on its merits.

Eh, while recognizing the ad hominem has value, so does bringing up the credibility of the people bringing the charges. To choose an example more dear to HN's heart, just because someone is being sued by a notorious patent troll who has lost numerous court cases when the people they're suing don't roll over, doesn't mean that the case is without merit ... but it definitely shifts the Bayesian prior in that direction.
