On a parallel front, it feels like something similar has happened with computers too. Laptops have gotten better (more cores, more RAM, SSD) over the years, but still the more frequent interaction occurrence seems to be me waiting for the computer to respond because every tiny application or website now consumes hundreds of GB of RAM .. and memory pressure.
