I’m pretty sure this saved my bacon big time when I lost my 2FA phone and backup codes. I found that I was logged in on a home machine and could disable it all and set it up with my new phone.

2fa will authenticate from your phone number, so you only need a replacement sim card from your telco.

Like with the app? I can install the authentication app on any phone with the same number?
