If manufacturing occurred in a sealed chamber and adding a step that consumes or captures carbon emissions would be a logical improvement considering it is a nontrivial amount of GHG emissions.

Lime is a close second, but not as important when compared to the energy needs and chemical processes involved in clinker manufacturing.
