Making it more general would make it less aggressive - empty by default blacklist.

Alternately, perhaps you could just add a class to each post with its domain name. That way the user can custom style (or hide completely) his or her chosen domains with userContent.css or an extension like Stylish.

Perhaps instead of blocking threads about paywalled articles there could be link to generate the outline.com version of the url?
