This seems to not be only Facebook, but Google and other big names where the people interviewing you aren't going to be working with you.

I don't think most people realize how this actively tilts the interview against being useful for the interviewee - a large part of it is knowing who you will be working with, and if you like them and can make a good team together. Not knowing the team you will work for (by design) can really make it hard for a candidate to make a choice, given they don't have all the information. I think this is especially true for minority candidates, since you don't know if someone on the team you will be working with might have a problem with you.
