There’s also www.rive.app

I found it rather enjoyable, but a click bait title will definitely get you further in this age of the internet

What’s clickbait about it? If anything it’s anti-clickbait — it just says Knives Out has bad writing, and then the article goes on to explain why.

It’s clickbait because it asserts something surprising and extreme about a movie that is generally considered to be very good, and then the article can’t really back the title up, let alone its even more extreme yet wishy-washy claim that the movie “might be” one of the worst movies the author has ever seen (talk about bad writing — that should be either “is one of the worst” or “might be the worst”).

The article maaaybe identifies one or two minor flaws, but mostly demonstrates that the author didn’t understand the movie. The word “fugue” is not mentioned in the review, for one of the many big misses.

It reads to me like garden variety clickbait of the “Beatles didn’t have a single good song” or “the internet has done no good” variety.

> It’s clickbait because it asserts something surprising and extreme about a movie that is generally considered to be very good

"Bad writing" is not suprising or extreme, just an opinion. And "very good" is subjective — we're talking about movies here, i.e. art. This isn't a review of programming languages where there's an objective reality of pros and cons to consider.

I haven't seen Glass Onion, but I saw Knives Out and while it was a decent film, I think comparing it to the Beatles or the Internet is a bit silly. It sounds like you really enjoyed the film and are just annoyed that someone else didn't.

https://rive.app is a free tool to create animations that integrates with a number of 'player libraries' (aka runtimes) that support most modern platforms. Rive focuses more on interactivity, rather than just playing back a small clip like Lottie is.

Wow, thank you for sharing this. I wonder, if you can‘t draw with pen & paper, how much sense does it even make to try creating illustrations like these & animate them? Any dev got experience who transitioned into that? I really like animations and 3D, got a good imagination but i can‘t even draw the simplest stuff…

I felt the same way but recently I've been learning a bit of Inkscape and it's easier than it initially feels even with a mouse and keyboard. 2dgameartguru has some nice tutorials you can reference to get an idea for how the tools are used https://2dgameartguru.com/category-selection-inkscape/

Nice, that looks cool. Thank you!

Tbh I was 100% expecting it with all the shortages and chip crunched. Hardware is hard, no way around it If anything, I appreciate the transparency

Waning immunity seems to affect only the probability of getting infected. Vaccine effectiveness against serious disease, hospitalization, and death are still very high. So, maybe boosters won't be for everyone

Israel has boosted 2.8 million people as of Sept 2021, a little more than half the vaccinated population. Total vax eligible population is 7 million, but some of them are not vaxed, thus can't take the 3rd booster.

Tesla FSD should be up there

Tesla isn't selling FSD and claiming it already works when it doesn't. Nor is FSD the crux of their business. They've shipped hundreds of thousands of EVs and have turned quarterly profits already. Also, FSD isn't physically impossible the way Theranos' tech was.

Yeah it’s not like Tesla is giving demos of full self driving that are actually being controlled by another human behind the scenes. Being overly optimistic with timelines and lying are vastly different.

Can't agree more. How long have they been collecting money from customer for this promise?

He makes some good points in the talk, but omg what a troll he is. Also on Twitter he's been a jerk to so many people, I really don't understand. If he's looking for what's wrong with software companies, he's part of the problem with his attitude honestly

I've watched a lot of Jon's streams and stuff and I think "troll" is a mischaracterization. Trolls get a kick from getting people riled up, which definitely isn't the case with Jon.

He is often quite blunt though. He doesn't usually go out of his way to say things nicely and, being somewhat in the same boat, I think this is mostly because he's just sick of seeing the same bullshit over and over. It is frustrating.

He says it like it is - and has a critical mind which I suppose makes him come across as confrontational. A troll on the other hand goes out of their way to insult & shock, which I don't believe he does.

Just to expand on your definition of a troll, as someone who grew up in the 90s and met a lot of them on usenet. The common theme I found with them was being able to carefully phrase a comment or question to maximally elicit a response.

They often weren't consistent in their arguments over time - instead crafting their argument to most elicit an emotional response in the reader so that they were compelled to reply.

I’ve noticed this as well. He is a very arrogant fellow and has no problem insulting people who do not deserve it.

It's very close-minded to believe that having a common phrasebook to solve common problems can be described as a "code smell".

Design Patterns are tools in a box, aiming to create scalable solutions, but the way a solution is implemented is up to the implementer. Design patterns just try to establish the language.

The comment section shows one thing about these type of articles: you can't have a "one size fits all" solution for these types of things. Some people like it one way, some like it another way.

Just keep it moving until you find something that works.

Loved this book! Reads really well.
