If we think in that angle even a telescope is a superior eye as it can see longer than a human. We never consider it as a superior eye which some use at times.
A nature created being which exists would be more relevant to this question than a man made stuff.
All naturally evolved species, including humans, are extremely complex machines. There isn't anything supernatural involved. That means that a general AI, with the capacity to learn and interact with the world, would easily be a thinking being. It might not be smarter than a border collie, but it is still a thinking being.
The difference between a simple machine, even a computer controlled one working off of a program, and one driven by a general AI is that a human did not have to be involved in the task at all. General AI, like the current purpose built AI, will be able to learn from first principals. That means they will be able to select and perform their own tasks once they are mature enough, just like us.
It is important to note that a real general AI has not yet been created. The technology is getting ever closer, though. It is only a matter of time before there is a break-through moment.
Not good enough for the distraction levels of which I'm capable. I'd still hop through the playlist.
The best solution I've found is a trusted third party (read: co-worker) who's anal about picking their own music. I'm essentially delegating my procrastination to them!
Nine out of 10 workers perform better when listening to music, according to a study that found 88pc of participants produced their most accurate test results and 81pc completed their fastest work when music was playing.
I belong to the part that really performs better while listening to some music. It works best when I’m working from an open office space with lots of distractions and unwanted noise that prevents me from concentrating. So the only solution is music in my headphones.
Important question here is to how exactly do you listen to some music at work. I think that one of the best options here are online streaming services (8tracks, Focus@Will)
I'm in the same situation, my office has an open floor plan and can get very distracting at times. +1 for 8tracks, I haven't created any myself but there are some great electronic playlists with minimal vocals for coding.
I think that the social aspect of it is actually what makes it fun here. Quality playlist is a hard thing to find and editors' picks are not always the most suitable ones
Yep. Stock photos. Thank you, Yogo.
I'd say generic. But hey, how much $ and time you'd spend to find some real heroes, bring them together and do a photoshoot? Time is money.
Thanks a lot though. We're here for criticism, not praise.
Thanks, Michael. You're right on the spot with all the point you've made. Though some explanation is visible if you scroll we really need to work on it. And copywriting as well.
Agree on stock photos. Generic look is killing me too to be honest. That's why we're asking for some help from HN audience hoping to get some real life heroes on our main page.
P.S. $100k is just one of the first seed rounds - not a one time transaction, so you're right - that's not a great deal of money but we're working on it.
Don't make me scroll! That area with the photos looks too busy and animates too quickly. Honestly trade the whole thing for a tag line or elevator pitch.
Thanks Andrew. Apart from everything, it's about time not money today. Clipart allowed us to get everything ready in no time. We could've spent some time on legal issues in case of using or ordering some 3rd party photos. Probably not much of it though but I believe the speed is worth it if you're in alpha.
