Every single podcast I listen to is sponsored by BetterHelp, nearly all of them.

I'd take that as an indictment on those podcasts. All the stuff I listened to / watched that used them in the past has dropped them for more than a year by now.

I think Johnny Harris may still run adverts for them? But I watch him mostly because he's such a suspicious character to begin with.

I believe they meant to contact Jamieson Greer (JG), and maybe Waltz had both of them listed by initials? That's the leading theory.

DOGE is a complete farce and has been from the beginning. The fact that so many people are okay with regular folks being laid off and plunged into chaos is beyond me. I guess since we're all living through screens these days, it's easy to remove yourself from the heartache and turmoil that goes into being fired, without real cause. But it's okay, these are just federal workers, not real people. They don't have real jobs. They're all the same stereotypical DMV workers we've come to make caricatures out of.

It's also about weakening the federal government. Cutting regulations and throwing everything into chaos. It took some time for me to buy into the Techno-authoritarian theories, but the evidence is overwhelming.

I understand why big corp would want to get rid of regulations to increase their profits. But chaos? That seems bad for business. I don't track the logic there.

Silicon Valley and it's executives ruined their own reputations. DOGE is going on a bigger scale and ruining the United States and the federal government. SV execs think they can play god and do whatever they want, that they're the chosen few. Simply firing the probationary workers in every department has to be one of the stupidest things to ever happen to this country.

Please tell me what large organization out there doesn't have at least a few inefficiencies. This notion that only the federal government is bloated and inefficient is so untrue. Every try dealing with or working for a big telecom?

Yeah it was started after the Obamacare website debacle years ago. The intention was to have a group of IT professionals who could shuttle from various departments to help with different projects. Pretty innocuous, honestly. It was never intended to be used as a tool to dismantle the federal government.

There are numerous examples of American intelligence officials being turncoat because they were extorted and compromised. Compromise and extortion are the main things that spy agencies look for in turning people. It's all too common. This kid should be nowhere near federal databases or sensitive information on American citizens. How much background has DOGE done on him? With their 'Move Fast and Break Things' moniker, my guess is very little. You're also giving these kids access to huge swaths of sensitive information. Sure, intelligence agencies can recruit young hackers with shady backgrounds, but they are given narrow scopes to work with. And usually there's been some agreement that those individuals don't want to be black hats anymore.

This is how I've dealt with Instagram. My IG account is literally nothing but cats. it's actually very refreshing to look at for five or ten minutes. But it takes work. IG wants to keep feeding me their BS reels. Sometimes I don't think it's worth it, they really make you put up a fight.

Adding animal feeds to whatever is a very good way to tone things down.

Otters, dogs, cats, snow leopards, red pandas whatever floats your boat.

Also, as you say the big platforms will still try and get you into an outrage loop.

I used to have the same thing (other less wholesome content has made its way back, I've not been strong enough). It was a better experience than what my feed was like before or after, but I'd still waste hours watching cat videos! Trying to stay off the feeds entirely, now.

This isn't an auditing. This is a gutting based on senseless and illegal procedures. You want to get rid of DEI, fine. That doesn't mean get rid of the whole agency. This is incredibly alarming.
