in fact, many proto languages were glyph based. human language and pictographs are intertwined— just look at how people use smileys, emoji, kaomoji, and more.

Then include those languages. Emojis are not part of any language.

meanwhile the entire world from japan to the uk to brazil to south africa are fine to go grocery shopping and take their family out in their normal sized car. in the city.

cities are better with fewer cars and better public transit. and you dont need a tank. i didnt know your viewpoint even existed.

if the framing is “pandemic controls bad because my rights are more important than public health in a global pandemic” it’s not a very convincing argument.

we should stick to actual fact and issue here which is that these tools are bad for human rights NOW. not some mythic pandemic is bad bogeyman

How is the framing of “chat control bad because my rights are more important than saving the kids from sex abuse” any different? I bet you good money you understand the fallacy in my example. I only wish people could see it for things that “their side” championed as well.

there is no more american dream, and anyone who “creates” jobs in this economy and era of rampant hypercapitalism isn’t really enabling or transferring wealth.

if there were ample americans to do these jobs, they should be able to get them.

nationalism is a silly idea, anyway. and we should have free trade and movement with our biggest two allies. american exceptionalism is a joke

You're arguing that Americans have no more right to success in America than non-Americans. I don't think many Americans will agree with you.

And neither will most people from any other country agree about their own country's success.

> Americans have no more right to success in America than non-Americans. Americans literally voted to defund the education system, voted for administration(s) that will amplify spending money to hire foreigners to keep America center of top talent/skill across domains and most importantly voted for extreme capitalism.

Indians or Canadians are not forcing US to hire them bud, https://www.crossrivertherapy.com/research/literacy-statisti...

Major corporations are hiring them because they're cheaper not because there aren't well educated Americans available.

There are more than 60 million college educated Americans. That's 50% more than the entire population of Canada.

It's a very big and well educated country, bud.

There have never been more unemployed new college grads studying computer science and computer engineering. There are ample americans ready to take these jobs.

Boomers promulgated lies about "shortages" for years to lobby for relaxed visa schemes. Ironic you mention nationalism being silly, since Indians are some of the most openly caustic nationalists I encounter on a daily basis.

funnily, i had zero issue getting vyvanse after a nearly 20 year medication gap, and being hugely successful by most metrics. i went to a psych, did an eval, and got medication. i know there are issues, but it’s interesting how different people’s outcomes are

not sure how useful this is. germany is a great place to live, safe, with great infrastructure and access to europe, good food, lots of personal freedoms, orderly society, few overtouristic’ed cities, and a thoughtful populace for the most part.

No it's not . If you are young you are a slave for the elderly. Personal freedom is also very questionable. Good Food haha

We feel exactly the same in the UK. Except personal freedom isn't questionable, it's in the gutter

Social Contributions + taxes are rising and benefits get worse and worse ... Pretty sad what happened/happens to Europe

Also: absolutely beautiful, with great people.

the great thing is that we live in a society controlled by laws and corporations cant get away with testing everything they want on public roads. your freedom or desire for “responsibility” doesn’t negate others’ rights

The right to negligently operate a vehicle?

>propaganda

you mean a movement where an entire half of the population have been treated as less than, coerced, not has the same rights, earn less money, and are still routinely demonized with 2000 year old paleolithic thinking?

why do men think they can get away with everything, and that the moment women try to speak up they are evil?

It’s funny because if you delete your last sentence (or just remove the sexes) this post could be a choose your own adventure prompt for anyone to drop their own views/prejudices into.

japan has fully legal drawn porn of children and tentacle beasts and whatever else, you just need small bars over genitals and beasts. you can buy it in a bookstore anywhere across the country freely, how is this not “down” with adult content? weird take

Last time I checked, you need an ID.

I'm astonished though that people sell ero fan manga from popular series at Komiket, like Sailor Moon (you know... "I'm Usagi Tsukino, I'm 14 years old") [1]

[1] though there was the episode that didn't get released in the US where she used a magical item to transform herself into an adult so she could go in a bar and get a drink

parody work is super popular-- people really love to see porn of their favourite characters, age/gender/year of publication be damned

It doesn't surprise me that people like it, it surprises me that they can get away with it in the open.

i've never needed to present ID in any mandarake or book-off or the like. of course if you go to events, they'll check ID to make sure you are 20+, or i'm sure if you look young. point is, the content is just there, even in some konbini, and it's not the norm, but certainly isn't demonised-- look at maid cafe and idol culture. /shrug

i cold turkey switched to colemak. i can go between that and qwerty. i went from t9 to full thumb typing. i use 5 different keyboards (with different custom layouts) daily.

the human brain can do all this and more if you let it and deal with a small amount of lag in building the neurons up
