Because each driver is not responsible for 300 lives in their cars. That's why there is so much attention to plane crashes. It doesn't kill one person at a time.
Right.. and this crash only killed 2 people. Perhaps one if the reports of the girl being hit by a rescue vehicle are believed; so what's your point? The real story is just how better aircraft safety has come over the years. This same accident years ago could very well have killed everyone aboard.
Just like the AF447 crash between Rio and Paris: Pilots incompetence at its best.
...and a week after this accident everyone was blaming the weird weather that happens at the equator for the crash. The point is that everyone is speculating, even you, that this this accident is the pilot's fault, but more often than not it's found to be a combination of mechanical failure and the pilot not being able to respond to it quickly enough -- which just so happens to be the official cause of AF447 crashing in 2009.
It's obvious they have been very lucky on the landing. It could have turned out in an explosion and kill half of the passengers. It doesn't excuse anything.
It certainly doesn't excuse your profound and distressing ignorance and belligerence. The facts are that you are not a pilot, were not there, have not received an official statement from the parties involved and are merely voicing an opinion based on what little information the mainstream press has been able to glean in the time since the accident.
Air disaster investigations typically take a while. Most reach conclusions that are extremely non obvious, nor intuitive. I recommend, for the sake of my own sanity and the rest of the people you inflict your opinion on, that you read the following books:
Not too long ago, there would be a 8-10 month wait just to get an interview with someone to just kick of the individual investigation. The investigations themselves can can many, many more months after that. By allowing contracting firms and outsourcing, they've significantly lessened the wait. Unfortunately, it's coming with the cost of rampant fraud, waste and abuse (at least form what the article is asserting).
Not true. The actual Reddit[1,2] posts the article pulls this from says they have been able to sync their game to the servers. It seems that when offline, it saves it locally and uploads upon reconnect. He was able to remove the 20 minute timeout disconnect, but it still saves things locally and uploads upon reconnect.
Not sure how that makes much of a difference, other than the fact that they still chose to purchase a 360 over the PS3 or Wii U after such a hardware failure.
The 360 has the highest games-to-console attach rate of any system ever. If repeat buyers are a significant portion of 360 sales then the 360's attach rate would be absolutely insane. Therefore it's easy to reason that broken consoles make up a very small percentage of total units sold.
I don't follow the video game industry at all, so forgive my ignorance. After looking up 'attach rate', I'm not sure I agree with you, though I do believe I follow your logic.
They're attempting to bridge the gap between a tablet and PC using 1 operating system. If played right, it could be a huge advantage to people really only needing one device for everything. You can see this in the new OEM devices coming out (ASUS Transformers, Samsung, etc..)
Why would I want 2 different operating systems if the underlying goal is to reduce the complexities of needing 2 devices... one for 'play' and one for 'work'?
Because sometimes you want different operating systems for different purposes? Presumably you don't want a phone OS running on your website servers, and you don't want a server-optimized version of linux running on your phone.
My phone is supposed to be good at calling, texting, and browsing the web on the go. That's a much different purpose than my laptop, which is meant for coding, etc. So doesn't it make sense for them to have different operating systems?
There are different operating systems, or at least different use cases built into the same operating system. Sweet jesus, I have to abandon the Internet for the next few years until people realize the world didn't end with Windows 8. It's frustrating to see such uninformed words being written and accepted as fact by such otherwise incredibly intelligent people.
A different OS for a server than you run on a phone? You mean like the difference between Windows Phone 8 and Windows 8 Server? Because it's a huge difference. Not even comparable. You're saying you can't code on a Windows 8 laptop? How am I running Visual Studio 2012 right now? In another window, I have an SSH session open to my VPS, editing some Golang files.
Here's the problem: Microsoft is basically giving you a free iPad bundled with the update to Windows 7. It doesn't hurt anything to have it there, but for a great number of people it really helps. Those people will likely never see the desktop, never care that it's there, and that's exactly what they want. For people like you and I, the only time we'll see Metro on our laptops is when we boot and when we hit the start button to search for a program via keyboard. The desktop is still there. It hasn't changed except for getting better. And yet people still seem to want to turn it into a negative with hyperbole, FUD, slippery slopes, and sometimes even outright lies. The world has not ended. It hasn't even changed. Window is Windows, your phone is a phone, your server is a server, and you still complain.
I know I'm feeding the troll here, but this is the most inane response I've heard. If you want to be taken seriously, please learn the proper use of there, their, and they're. It's that simple.
To be fair, HP did drop out of the WinRT tablet race to focus only on Windows 8 x86 (non-ARM) hardware. I can't seem to find a link to back that up, but I do remember it being a story a few months ago.
Had the same problem as well. About 10-15 private messages were shown on my timeline form 2008-2009. I've hid my timeline so only I can see it for right now until it's fixed. Seems like an quicker /easier than deleting the messages.
