i too used to be very interested in contributing to Haiku OS but due to their backwards stance on LLMs i lost all interest and moved on. sorry you had to find out the hard way but the maintainers are very stubborn and strongly married to their ideological stance against LLMs. it wouldn’t surprise me if this ideological split led to a fork of the project eventually. you definitely aren’t the first to be disappointed by their behaviour and you wont be the last. they’d rather stay stuck in the past than push the project forward. they have a history of rejecting fully working drivers over this ideology.

positive thinking isn’t going to help you out of illness, poverty, disability or disease. for everything else sure but this is not a panacea and reeks of victim blaming if not properly disclaimed

It won’t fix all your problems, but will stop you from being stuck in self-pity and pessimism, which can help you actually look for a solution to your problems and make things better for yourself. It certainly isn’t victim blaming. More like, victim empowering. Or even better, transforming victims into survivors that are empowered with agency.

can’t wait for people to complain about how much water or energy bringing manufacturing back to america uses. oh wait, they won’t, cause it’s not AI. people didn’t care about data centres before AI. this is an ideological issue wrapped up with a bow on it by environmental issues. that’s not to say america is absolutely handling it’s energy transition terribly, it is

unfortunately the wisest voices in the room aren’t always the loudest voices

apple just can’t pull out of america so you’re likely right. a law mandating a backdoor in america would be the end

releasing a transparency report feels like an easy way to get on the administration’s shit list. i’ll be surprised if this ever happens

not with that attitude there won’t! straight into investments, don’t touch for a few decades and she’ll be right. then again most people desperate for money don’t think like that unfortunately

this is gonna have chilling effects on free speech in america. people are gonna be thinking twice about criticising authorities after a pattern of this happening on a national level is established

If you let them make you think twice before posting, you're letting them win.

I'm not saying that I don't think twice about how to word things or that I'm some sort of free speech warrior. I'm saying that when I make concessions, I feel bad about it. Try to be brave and keep speaking openly about your contempt for the people in charge.

i’m fairly confident the gold card is the only kind of immigration they want to encourage now. you either pay up or go home and cross your fingers

cruelty is the point in case it wasn’t obvious

Yes and one step further: it is attention, ultimately to extract wealth.

Trump is a distractor and can make a whole country forget about <insert recent insanity>. Passing a judge is a minor detail here.

Of course it is stupid to talent-leak your country but he just needs you to forget about $LATEST_SCANDAL. That's the value for him. Trump doesn't care about the future of US.

And distracting does not take skill. It only takes a mind poisoned to the core. He will throw anything in his chaos machine to extract wealth. And US has an endless supply of those juicy valuables and values that you can sacrifice and shed.

Let's see what next week has in store!
