yeah, I'm still hoping that Wikipedia remains valuable and vigilant against attacks by the radical right but its obvious that Trump and congress could easily shut down wikipedia if they set their mind to it.
He already does. He is cutting funding for blue state initiatives that were already allocated. Of course Congress should have the power of the purse. But the Republican Congress is spineless as is the Supreme Court.
Before now, Republican representatives would never let even a Republican President usurp their power.
I was interested in hetzner but when their create account workflow failed, I figured if they can't do that, I have doubts on their ability to handle providing virtual servers because thats a fair good bit more complicated.
oooh look who's punching down now haha yes sir, I have an extremely unfortunate life, I'm the sort of individual who does not have good luck. I try not to bring it up because its simply not on topic for hn, me circling the drain is really nobody's business but mine and the drain, oh yeah, yours too I guess. questions?
ultimately, these llms seem to be a net negative for humanity. if we were a better species of animal, I bet llms could really help advance our living conditions on this lonely little planet.
I counter-suggest you google "nanobots" or probably more in general, "robots". let me know where they fit in the tree of life, and I will consider myself duly corrected and enlightened!
"I could casually acknowledge I didn't catch an oblique joke about a new way of viewing the natural world which I previously took for granted... but it's too late! To admit an oopsie would be anathema to my identity and social survival. In this desperate hour, I have no choice but to argue that it is categorically wrong to view cellular biology a form of nanotech or vice-versa, using the narrowest and most pedantic dictionary entries."
the responsibility of excusing an erroneous statement as "just a joke bro" probably belongs to the parent post of the post you were replying to, especially when I can't even figure out the jokes punch line lol but you're a good sport for pitching in. whats the punch line?
yeah I think audacity just got dinged by its association with musescore, but its probably a good idea to watch out who you associate with. I like audacity but I try to stick with the earliest version that still runs, my current version is like 5 years old or something and it does what I need.
He's probably aware of all the issues then, it'd thus be ok to just hide my comment, I don't mind. I will say that everytime I read about the musescore/audacity/guitar-whatever-it-is stuff it makes me want to find an earlier version of audacity, I might run out of versions at some point haha
It's not even "offline", it is "online with a slow connection". On some level docker is a machine that turns 50kb of I/O into 3GB of I/O.
Over my slow connection I was completely capable of downloading 20GB games onto the XBOX, Playstation, Steam and such, it just took a while and the downloading software had caches and resumable downloads and all the facilities to deal with that.
It never did, I think because reliability is a "enterprise feature, call to talk to sales" kind of feature.
It works offline, you just need to get the images from somewhere.. it could certainly be a local network repository. You just need to propagate it somehow..
