The entire chip is probably just one giant fully utilized vector unit by now

I had exactly the same reaction to the early Facebook "Zuckerbot" theme, and something ineffable absolutely died in the transition. The failure of the front end industry to recapture it and sell it at a profit is interesting in itself. Did not come here for this comment, but it's left me with enough to think about that I'll close the thread now.

The beatings will continue until the yield curve improves

This hasn't been true in the UK for at least a few years now

You have to install a browser extension to use email? Who had this bright idea?

About 10 years ago it was possible to observe non-RFC behaviour from (IIRC) google.com doing exactly this. I don't know if they still do it

There is a lot to be said for just having 100% Terraform defs for everything, sure you rewrite the file from scratch to move to a different cloud, but you know what needs to be in the file

Folk talking about austerity as a tory thing are going to be in for a monster shock if energy prices persist through the next elections, and when they realize the size of the Covid bill vs the GFC bill. It may very well be Labour sitting as the final nails are driven into the NHS, just by sheer luck of timing

Much of the Covid expense was paid for with newly created money through Quantitative Easing.

Even the unlikeliest of Conservatives seem to be waking up to Modern Monetary Theory [1]

The end of the NHS is unlikely to be caused by money or lack thereof, given the NHS was founded while the UK was still suffering the economic consequences of the pyrrhic victory of WW2 — food rationing was still a thing, and was only completely ended six years after the NHS was founded, just in time for the Suez crisis to bring it back for a few more months.

Would OP please consider updating this thread with the outcome of the email exchange. Seems too easy to pop into every complaint thread and act busy. Would love to know if your problem is actually resolved

Update (can't edit the OP):

Edwin reached out to me but their team can't override their faulty algorithm apparently. Other banks/payment providers have no issue giving us 3-5x the limit Stripe slashed us to, but they can't. Root cause is the fact that Stripe fundamentally doesn't understand eCommerce / cyclical LOCs in their algorithms apparently as our business hasn't changed meaningfully regarding effective cash positions.

Fairly surprising Stripe doesn't understand how to evaluate financial positions correctly. Oh well.

Yes, I will certainly do so.

Please also let us know if you found a better alternative.

I would but that is likely to come months down the road - I doubt this thread will be remembered by then! Still I'll figure out how to get that info out.

I've worked formal 3 and 4 day week arrangements. Net experience: it's pointless, if you're working 4 day weeks and you're feeling behind, you may well end up working that 5th day without anyone asking.

Similarly in a 5 day week arrangement, I've never felt compelled to actually work the full week especially when I'm ahead.

Ignoring any formality, I think most folk work a 2-3 week if they were honest about it.

I wouldn't sweat having a 3/4 day arrangement as a reason to pick one company over another, especially if the offer is implicitly part of attempting to screw you on salary

We work 4 days a week (4x7.5) and we have a very strict “policy” that no one works on a Monday. The same way that no one works on a Saturday or a Sunday. It’s easy to see when people work outside of work, and we don’t celebrate it, we try and find out why it happened and to change process to better protect time off. Generally employees working “overtime” is not a failure of them, it’s a failure of process (estimation, workload, support, roadmap etc)

“Most folk work a 2-3 day week” - while this maybe true, don’t let it discount a bonafide 4 day work week. On the extra day off I’m presumed uncontactable and not at my desk. There’s a big difference between that and being at work but not really working.

>>Similarly in a 5 day week arrangement, I've never felt compelled to actually work the full week especially when I'm ahead. Ignoring any formality, I think most folk work a 2-3 week if they were honest about it.

While I agree with you, ya gotta admit that most don’t have the luxury to just say “I got my work done already im just gonna take Friday off.”

Most of us are expected to be available at the least from M-F, 9-5.

Exactly this, and especially with "remote work", you can pretty much regulate your own hours.

> Ignoring any formality, I think most folk work a 2-3 week if they were honest about it.

The real difference maker is if you need to show up to the office or be reachable. I am sure there were weeks where I did 16 hours of work(i.e 2 days) at BigCo but I still showed up to the office 5 days as week. It didn't really matter to me if I was working at the office or just goofing off in the coffee room, I still couldn't go surfing or do something I enjoy.

> if you're working 4 day weeks and you're feeling behind, you may well end up working that 5th day without anyone asking.

If you're behind on a 5 day work week, do you work the weekend? I don't see how this is any different.
