Do you really think that people can't come up with such arguments on their own? People aren't very unique, lots of people independently come up with very similar stupid arguments.

There's mass production and consumption of arguments and ideas.

What do you mean? Almost every human can go to school and become a stable professional at some job, that is the bar to me, todays LLM cannot do that.

LLMs are clever enough to hold down a professional job, and they've had far less time learning than the average human. If that is the bar then AGI has been achieved.

People would absolutely buy AI farmed meat or vegetables if they were 10% cheaper. The number of people who pay a premium depending on production method is a small minority.

Corporations that competed with governments had armies historically, trade corporations like Hansa or East Indies operated that way. So as long as they aren't fielding armies they are not competing with governments, just influencing them a bit.

I don't get what point you're making. A government is a bunch of corporations agreeing to cooperate rather than compete?

That corporations without armies are not comparable to governments. The corporations that could rival countries historically did field armies.

In the large as to their goals, effects, and competition with each other, sure. I was talking about individual freedom, and in that context they are both capable of applying coercion to individuals.

There was no such split in most countries, so internationally it is weird to differentiate the two. Liberals are right wing in most places (they want small government with low taxes).

Most people just means physical violence when they say violence, if you use the word differently you will trick many people into thinking you say something you don't.

“Most people” once thought depression was laziness and marital rape was impossible. Appealing to what most people think isn’t clarity, it’s inertia. Language changes because our understanding of harm does. The fact that many still default to the physical doesn’t make the rest untrue - it just shows how far denial can pass for common sense.

But if there is a bubble Nvidia is making it worse this way and will get hit hard itself.

the bubble would hit Nvidia just about as hard regardless since their valuation and revenue is already bound to their monopoly on the compute.

US also has the highest rate of imprisoned people in the world, I wouldn't follow them on sentencing. If revictivism is lower for short sentences then there is no reason to have long sentences, it isn't about punishing people it is about reducing problems for the rest of society.

i agree with you on that, merely thought the suggestion that the US is somehow more permissive of pedophilia to be absurd.

> Part of that is one of the pillars of conservatism, that humans are imperfect beings and thus need institutions to guide them

Who made this definition, left wing scholars? I doubt many conservative persons would say this.

You could just as well say that this is the central pillar of communism, that people need to be controlled since they are too evil if they are free to form companies and structure themselves. Or that this is the central pillar of social democracy, that without big taxes and central institutions to spend peoples money on things that benefits them they will make bad choices and not get the things they need.

Every government is about taking control from the people, I don't get what you mean that conservatives would do this more than any other group.

But that is what classes does, it lets you have data lists and dictionaries implemented as a class so that your algorithm doesn't have to understand how the data structure is implemented. In functional programming the algorithm has to be aware of the data structure, I feel that is much worse.
