1) Its not MySQL

Lesson One: Don't go on ##java@freenode and ask homework questions.

Probably not. Are there any welcoming IRC channels? I know of #phpmentors but what about for other languages?

Asking for mentoring and asking someone to do your homework are two different things. There's always been and there always will be freshmen who attempt to short cut their way through classes by trying to make someone else do solve their homework. It is and should be frowned upon.

Politely asking smart questions about how to progress in your homework, on the other hand, is just fine.

From my experience it's the channels that don't have a lot of active members, maybe like 10 or 20 people logged in at all times. The value of conversation is increased majorly in those channels.

Yes, just ask apple.

What did Apple patent that someone else invented before?

That's a design patent. Yes, it's a patent, but it's a whole different kettle of fish compared to a utility patent.

Slide to unlock, pinch to zoom, bounce.

But it is not just Apple, almost every company has patents invalidated for prior art

> almost every company has patents invalidated for prior art

Yeah, that's pretty true. But the way the parent comment said it, it sounded like it was some intentional thing where they were out to screw everybody by fraudulently obtaining a patent that was anticipated by prior art. Which... I don't think many companies are trying to do that.

Good.

I got on their mailing list through a permutation generator on names/emails and it took me months to get off that craplist.

'Murica.

Except it being for the most part a corpse, it was at one time something nice I can see; but I see (and encourage) everyone I see who uses it to move to CEFSharp or Coherent UI if they need actual support and advanced features that were previously nested in awesomium.

It'd be even better if their libraries didn't have cancer.

I see your problem, PHP.

Because in America its only anti-competitive if you can't pay off the people who decide if it is.

Care to point out where this guy's startup was paying royalties for the music streamed?
