The real answer: making money on the App Store is extremely difficult. Developers have worked out subscriptions make more money than one-off purchases over time, even if a large % of people will refuse to engage with them.
There are fashion subscriptions. Some people do not value being able to continually rewear clothes and would prefer to constantly having new clothes to show off.
That's absurd. I've gotten value from my toilet plunger for years. Let me start charging you a toilet plunger subscription just for privilege of using it when you please. That's your logic.
There are lots of articles written by journalists where they tried road tripping in an EV. Sometimes it worked out great, especially when their vehicle had a lot of range and could charge quickly. Other times it was a disaster.
One does not need to take frequent vacations for the cost of renting a vehicle to really add up. If you went for a week, twice a year, that could be a thousand dollars right there.
It's Roblox's responsibility to police their platform and the vast majority of bad actors use mainstream operating systems and mainstream services like Discord or Telegram. Clearly lack of privacy does not prevent crime as we can see on Telegram and Discord which are both not E2EE and yet have far more crime taking place then on encrypted alternatives.
GrapheneOS isn't even designed for anonymity and is more secure than iPhones but iPhones are the next best option. A phone is not going to do anything deter or encourage bad behaviour on a platform. It would be much easier on a desktop considering the multi-tasking.
Most criminals are not smart which is why they commit crimes.
The idea that GrapheneOS is for criminals is as absurd as saying iPhones are. They are just tools trying to be the best they can be.
I have the back tap trigger a shortcut to give me a list of my most used things. I’ve used gestures to let me use a remote keyboard turn the pages on an ebook and I’ve also used it to let me remotely swipe short videos. I’ve used the vehicle motion cues. I’ve set an action to bring up the TTS reader. I even had the eye tracking do stuff for me.
Anecdotally; A friend of a friend just moved into an awful building on Ellis and is paying $1650/month for a small studio. 1br in my building are renting for $3,300+ and I'm not in a particularly desirable neighborhood, a new building, or a rent-controlled building.
So yeah, it feels really true.
Not really sure how rents are skyrocketing when every 3rd person I know in tech has been laid off in the last year.
In SF, the apartment vacancy rate was approaching an absurdly low 3% earlier this year (https://www.sfgate.com/local/article/san-francisco-rent-surg...). Usual estimates put apartment vacancies at at least 5% just to accomodate people moving in and out of buildings in the first place.
