It’s such an obvious design that I had simply assumed that that’s how they all worked!
Actually Sony did it 20 years ago. For those old enough may remember the name Triluminos. The tech was too expensive and couldn't get it to scale. Arguably Sony has wanted it for 20 years and this year it is finally happening.
