The big difference is that traditional news orgs do things like retract/update articles, and do not outright fabricate things.
When was the last time Breitbart apologized or issued a retraction?
I think the "mainstream media" has been pretty one-sided in terms of going for an extremely pro-Israel bias here; but I do not equate having a bias with spreading "misinformation". I think they are biased like everyone. They have a duty to try to be less so. They can't.
But that's not the same as, e.g., fake news claiming Hillary Clinton was terminally ill and barely able to walk in 2016.
