I find perspectives on writing workflows are very subjective and hard to generalize. I know some people who outline to the sentence. Others who gestalt write and let the structure evolve from writing. I reread/edit as I craft the next section. Others get driven crazy by such open endeness.

All perspectives have been successful tech book authors.

The more difficult thing is how you collaborate with coauthors with different writing style that might conflict with yours.
