I'm not sure what you mean about it not being "science". Science is a process, and hypotheses are part of that process. And the process never really ends.
Crossing over from thinking something is one way to testing that something really is that way is certainly a line held within the purview of science. I think you are reading my statement too literally.
I agree, but I think science isn't the right word. I think people use the word science as some sort of proxy for objective truth. But the reality is that science is a messy process that often goes through many drafts before it arrives at something somewhat resembling objective truth. Sometimes that takes centuries depending on the subject.
